A guy in a black debadged Sport Edition paced me on the freeway and gave me a thumbs up. This is literally the only acknowledgment of my car I’ve received from a stranger. Up until now, the only comments I’ve gotten have been from passengers (“Oooh comfy!”) and cops (“This is a nice car!... Step out of the car, please”). There was also that time my dog-sitter asked, “Is that a Volkswagen?”

Meanwhile, I take my pickup to the gas station and get caught having a 20-minute conversation about the “good old days...”

I drive a red Jetta... people (probably) just assume I’m a sorority girl. I could lower it and put a noisy exhaust on it, then people would assume I’m a vapebro.
